Gary Carlson – Iowa House of Representatives, District 91

Initially elected in November of 2014, Gary Carlson initially took the oath of office in January of 2015.

Gary understands the tremendous honor and privilege it is to represent the 30,000 people in House District 91.

During his second term, House leadership recognized Gary’s broad business background and leadership experience.

Gary’s committee and leadership assignments are as follows:

  • Transportation – Chair
  • Commerce Committee
  • Economic Growth
  • Local Government
  • Transportation and Infrastructure – Appropriations


Gary has also been appointed to additional Committees:

  • Re-appointed to a two year term on the Iowa Comprehensive Health Insurance Association (HIPIOWA) Board.  HIPIOWA was created by the Iowa State Legislature to provide access to health insurance coverage to all residents of the state who are unable to obtain individual health insurance.
  • Re-appointed to the Public Retirement Systems Committee.  The duty of this permanent statutory committee is to review and evaluate all public retirement systems in place in Iowa, including the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS), the Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa (Code chapter 411), the Department of Public Safety Peace Officers Retirement System (PORS), and the Judicial Retirement System.
  • Chair – House Credentials Committee.
  • Appointed to Iowa Innovation Council, a division of Iowa Economic Development Authority, focusing on economic development in areas of technology, and specifically focused on bio-sciences, advanced manufacturing and information technology.
